Plumbers

Get named when homeowners ask AI who to call about a leak.

A burst pipe or a backed-up drain sends people to ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews or Perplexity before they ring anyone. I'd get your plumbing company named for the jobs you want, from emergencies to water heaters, and log where every enquiry came from, starting in week one.

No plumbing client yet.

For residential plumbing companies handling emergencies, drains and installs across a service area. The pages follow the jobs you want and the hours you can actually cover.

What plumbers want to know

  • “Why am I paying for leads that go to several plumbers at once?”
  • “Can my pages make clear I do water heater installs as well as emergency leaks?”
  • “Is my marketing agency worth what I'm paying, or am I getting ripped off?”
  • “How do I know where my calls are actually coming from?”

Water on the floor, or a water heater quote. Different calls.

A homeowner with a burst pipe isn't comparing websites. They want someone who can come out now. A tankless water heater or a sewer line is a slower decision, with questions about the equipment and the work involved.

In my Perplexity tests, the plumbers named were the ones whose sites explicitly offered that job and, for emergencies, stated their hours. A single services page that lists everything in passing gives an AI engine little to match.

Then the calls come in, and the source needs to sit beside the job requested, or a drain call and an accepted installation become one undifferentiated total. I'd fix that record first.

Run the check yourself

Paste any of these into an AI assistant and see which plumbers it names. If yours isn't one of them, the call shows you why.

What I'd do for plumbers

Emergency work and planned jobs on their own pages

Burst pipes and leaks, drain and sewer clearing, water heaters, repipes. Each gets a page that answers what homeowners ask about it, so an urgent question and a planned-install question both have a match on your site.

Licence, hours and towns stated plainly

Your licence, the hours you really answer and the towns you cover go on your site, your Google Business Profile and your listings in the same words. AI answers lean on those details when they decide who to name for an emergency.

Reviews that name the repair

After completed jobs I'd ask customers for feedback in their own words, with room to describe the leak, the drain or the install and where it was. Their account stays theirs, including anything that went badly.

Every call logged with its source

I keep the requested plumbing job beside the caller's stated source from week one. Your team confirms whether it became emergency attendance, drain clearing or an agreed install, and whether payment cleared.

Does ChatGPT recommend plumbers for emergencies?

Yes. Ask ChatGPT or Perplexity for an emergency plumber for a burst pipe in a town and it names a few companies. When I ran it, the answer pointed to each company's own advertised emergency service and hours. A recommendation doesn't confirm someone is free, so the hours on your site need to be accurate.

How can a plumber get named for water heater and sewer jobs?

Give each job its own page that answers the questions people ask before booking it: the types you install, whether you handle permits, what the job involves. Match those services on your Google profile and listings, and collect reviews that name the job. Then I test heater and sewer questions separately against those pages.

Keep the agency and the lead sources that pay their way

I'd add the AI search layer next to whatever already works: your ads, your agency, a lead site that earns its fee.

Each enquiry carries its source, so for the first time you'd see what every one of them books, side by side.

Questions plumbers ask

Is AI search better than buying plumbing leads?

It's different. Compare a lead provider's actual terms with the work you accept from it. I record the source, the job requested and the outcome for every enquiry, so a paid lead, an unanswered call and an accepted install stay distinguishable, and you can judge each source on what it books.

Should my plumbing company list every town nearby?

List the towns you can reach quickly and work in regularly. For emergency work especially, an AI answer that sends you a call from too far away is a job you either lose or regret taking.

Does my plumbing licence need to be on my website?

If you hold one, yes, stated clearly with the trades it covers. Homeowners check it, and it's one of the trust details AI answers can mention when they recommend a plumber.

What should a plumbing company do with emergency hours it can't always cover?

State the hours you really answer, and nothing more. Promising round-the-clock service you can't staff turns an AI recommendation into a missed call and a bad review.
